October 2008 meeting

The October meeting is on Tuesday October 14th from 6:30-7:30(ish) at the University of Ballarat (rm T127). This month's speaker is Lance Burns.

Lance's talk: Encephalon
This presentation will be a very informal (and highly accessible) overview of my PhD work and its non-academic offshoot; Encephalon. Encephalon is a cross-platform software "service" through which developers (and users) can gain easy access to powerful (and extensible) Distributed Artificial Intelligence technology. It has wide-ranging applications in R&D, embedded devices, productivity apps, simulation, games and even the web. We'll be taking a look at a number of example applications undergoing development which use Encephalon, and other random experiments I'm performing with the system (past, present & in future) - possibly with a realtime demo or two...
